Responsibilities

The Carlin Volunteer Fire Department (CVFD) is made up of community members who have chosen to serve others in their community by becoming a member of the Fire Department. The Carlin Fire Department is directed by a Chief appointed by the City Council with up to 35 members to serve our community and to assist in those communities surrounding us. We not only provide fire service but also provide ambulance transport services at the EMT Intermediate level. We are classed as an “All Risk” department which means we cover multiple emergency services;Structural Fire Protection, Wildland Fire Protection, Vehicle Fire Protection, Industrial Fire Protection, Emergency Medical Services, Hazardous Materials Response, Industrial Fire Protection, Vehicle Extrication, Rope, High Angle, Confined Space and Trench Rescue.

Our members are trained to various levels to include training to manage any of the emergency situations which we are faced with it at any given moment. Members volunteer their time for both training and response to incidents, each giving of their own free time to help serve the community.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Carlin Volunteer Fire Department shall be to protect and enhance the quality of life of the citizens of the City of Carlin and its surrounding areas, communities and environment; to safeguard the well being, safety and prosperity of our community by providing fire suppression, fire prevention, emergency medical service, rescue and response to hazardous material spills and leaks; to provide our citizens with a well equipped, highly trained and compassionate emergency response system that is capable of alleviating the effects of disasters, tragedies and other threats to life and property. Our services shall be delivered by a dedicated family of members committed to exceeding the needs and expectations of those we serve ... anytime, anywhere, any need.

Goals
The primary goals of the Fire Department are to:

  • Reduce and prevent the loss of life and property damage
  • Improve the outcome of patients
  • Quickly rescue trapped victims
  • Protect the environment from destruction
